What is the DeuKo? And what happens at DeuKo?
What is the DeuKo?
The German Conference (DeuKo), which takes place annually on a weekend in March or April, is the highest body of all Rotaract clubs in Germany and the general assembly of Rotaract Germany. The organizational framework is prepared by the organizing club of the respective city or district.
The main aim of the DeuKo is the exchange of information and ideas between Rotaract Germany members. In addition to the plenary session with project presentations, proposal discussions, departmental applications and reports, committees and workshops offer space for discussion and exchange on departmental content and other Rotaract topics within the Rotarian family. During the DeuKo, the department members of the RDK are also elected. Motions are also voted on.
Furthermore, the “BestAct” and the “Best Picture Award” (BPA) are elected by the plenum. All founded clubs present are entitled to vote, each with one vote. Parts of the ceremony on Sunday are the speech, the presentation of the awards, further awards or honors.
What are Pre-Tours?
For every DeuKo, there are so-called pre-tours on Friday, which are organized by the host club, surrounding clubs or other members of the Rotarian family. Sights, cultural attractions or companies are visited in order to get to know the spirit of the city. The pre-tours are also a great opportunity not only to see the city, but also to meet Rotaract members from all over Germany and to network.
What is the Welcome Party?
On Friday evenings, DeuKo begins with a classic party. Over cold drinks, you can meet up with old friends and get to know Rotaract members from all over Germany. The DeuKo Welcome Party has no special dress code, just come as you feel comfortable!
What is the Plenum?
The plenary session, which takes place on Saturday and Sunday, is the core of the DeuKo and focuses on statutory content. Here we naturally put the common Rotaract spirit first. The official parts of the general assembly of Rotaract Deutschland e.V. are dealt with at the plenary session. The content is organized by the chair of the Rotaract Germany Committee (RDK) in cooperation with the other departments of the RDK. Motions are presented and discussed, the departments introduce themselves and submit their annual reports, while Rotaract gets to know each other really well in the committees, workshops and a joint social campaign on site. The presentation of awards and honors, the presentation of advertising contributions and projects as well as the keynote speech and the announcement of the election and voting results are also part of the event.
Further details will follow in the coming weeks and months.
What is the Gala-Party?
Saturday evening will once again be all about celebrating. Here you have the opportunity to toast DeuKo 2025 in Berlin with old and new friends and spend an unforgettable evening together. Unlike the Welcome Party, the Gala Party will include a joint dinner where you can dress up 🙂
